Indian  dances are broadly divided into Classical dances and folk dances. The Classical dances of India are usually religious in content. although  the folk dances of India are as well spiritual and spiritual in content just the main force behindhand the folk dances of India is the celebratory mood. Dances are a form of coherent face of human beliefs. The almost popular classical dance styles of India are Bharatnatyam of tamil nadu, Kathakali plus Mohiniattam of kerala, Odissi of orissa, Kathak from uttar pradesh, Kuchipudi of andhra pradesh and Manipuri of manipur.

There is actually no such genre as folk dancing. Rather, there is a big  body of unrelated non-classical dance forms. The only thing common among these dance forms is their rural origins.
Many folk dances are did by ordinary people rather than professional dancers. It is very usual that on special occasions, the villagers will gather and sing and dance, accompanying themselves on a variety of folk instruments. Such special occasions include harvesting, planting, marriages and religious holidays. Here are spectacles of dances that fascinate and enchant. The folk dances of Rajasthan are mostly performed during festivals and other ceremonial occasions. Each of these dances is accompanied by a particular type of music, unique to the cultural ambience of each region. The Rajasthani dance has many versions, like the Bhavai dance in which the female dancers dance balancing seven or eight pitchers on their heads; Chari, a replica of the process of bringing water; Gair, a colorful dance performed both by men and women and so on and so forth.
